This is most common on 2.0T and 2.0TDI Volkswagen and Audi engines. If the P2279 engine code is accompanied by a P2015 engine code, 9/10 it is a faulty intake manifold position sensor. An intake manifold supplies fresh air to the engine’s cylinders.VWType 25 Engine Codes. The early Type 25 was still fitted with an Aircooled engine. This was available as a 1.6 (CT Engine Code) or 2.0 (CU or CV engine code). In 1983 the first Watercooled petrol engine was available. This was available initially as a 1.9 and then shortly after the 2.1 was introduced.

Have a look on your v5 log book. it'll be listed as engine number. It'll be the first 3 letters ie: bkc 123456789; bkd 123456789.
