Haven ridden both 27.5+ and 29+ (2.8 and 3.0 tires on both) on both hardtails and rigid, here's my take. At 6'3" I overall prefer 29+, especially now in AZ and in rigid mode. Much better rollover and helps eat up a lot of real rocky/chunky terrain.

26 vs. 27.5 vs. 29 bikes – How do they differ? 26” Mountain Bikes. Word has it that the 26 mountain bike is dead (or is dying). While the rise in sales for the 27.5/ 27.5+, and the 29er are on the rise, the truth is that the 26” isn’t completely dead yet as there still are a few of these mountain bikes around.29 will be faster but 27.5 will be more playful. This claim is kinda bullshit because it really only applies if everything else about the bikes is very similar. I'm pretty sure my 29er trail bike is slower down hill but more playful than a 27.5" DH bike. 1. Senorsteepndeep.

What is happening then to the bike market? Well looking back to the Pinkbike testing that we did back in November 2012, it was clear that the 27.5″ bike felt smoother on the same trails compared to a 26″ bike. In corners the 27.5″ required more readjustment to ride as it was slightly more sluggish to put into the corners than a 26″ bike. iRfb06m.
